2D meshing – Avoiding small elements (and why this is so important)

When generating a 2D mesh in Innovyze products (such as InfoWorks ICM, CS 2D and InfoSWMM 2D) it is very important to avoid small mesh elements, as just one tiny element can increase simulation times by a factor of 10 or more.

The attached paper describes how meshes should be created and how these tiny elements can be identified, avoided or resolved.
