Data Integration Highlight: Importing ITpipes Pipeline Inspections (raw data) into InfoMaster

Combine ML and MLI table to create a single inspection header table

  • Open the exported mdb database file with MS Access
  • Create a new Query
  • Add tables ML and MLI, the two tables should be automatically linked by ML_ID

  • Double click on * in table MLI to add all columns from table MLI
  • Double click on each column in table ML except ML_ID
  • Change Query Type to Make Table Query

  • Name the new table Inspection

  • Run the Query to combine tables MLI and ML to create a single header table.

Combine table MLO_Media and Media to create a Media_Condition table

  • Open the exported mdb database file with MS Access
  • Open Navigation Options to show hidden objects

  • Create a new Query
  • Add tables Media and MLO_Media, the two tables should be automatically linked by Media_ID

  • Double click on MLO_ID to add it to the Query
  • Double click on * in table Media to add all columns from table Media
  • Change Query Type to Make Table Query

  • Name the new table Media_Condition

  • Run the Query to combine table MLO_Media and Media to create a Media_Condition 

Import the modified database into InfoMaster

  • Open InfoMaster
  • Create a new Survey Import Data set (Optional)
  • In Operation Center, right click on an existing or newly created Survey Data Import set, select

  • Select Tables specified in the next step in the new dialog, click Next

  • Select and highlight Inspections on the left most panel.

  •  In the middle panel, click on the eclipse (…) to select the Inspection table in the modified inspection database

  • On the right most panel, map the System Field to the custom fields from ITpipes database. (Optional: Click on Open Form on the top to load in the pre-defined mapping file provided by

  • Repeat steps 5 – 7 for Conditions and Media_Conditions
  • Click Import.
