Using the WRc Stylesheet (*.XSL) to Visualise and Display MSCC CCTV XML File.

Not exactly an InfoNet specific post but for those users working with the UK’s WRc’s MSCC Sewer CCTV Survey Standard this blog may be of use, it explains how to better visualise the data exchange XML file. A typical File looks as follows and is made up of an initial standard XML Header followed by the Survey Header and then the observations. The Survey Header and Observations are then repeated for each survey.

Page 1 of the PDF contains a link to a stylesheet, circled in the image above. Highlight and copy the contents of the stylesheet into a text editor like NotePad. Save this to a location on your machine say ‘C:\temp’ and name it ‘mscc4_cctv.xsl’.

Edit the CCTV XML File, specifically line 3 of the XML, to the point at the stylesheet saved on the local machine, see example below. Be sure to ‘Save’ the file.

Open the XML File in a Web Browser. Note how it is displayed in a very legible fashion.
